Laurin “Peaches” Keller

What makes Laurin Wildly Capable?

Peaches is a kind, beautiful, and resilient woman. She embodies what it means to be fiercely capable. I’ve watched her journey as a leader in the non-profit space for the last year and learned about heart and values by how she lives her life. She is the kind of person that inspires you to want to be a quality person!” ZANA WILLIAMS

What makes you feel proud?

I am proud to be a person who is willing to try. I will taste any food at least once, I will engage in conversations with people I might not agree with to see if I can understand their perspectives, and I will always strive to be kind. I am the type of person who sees things through to the end and strives to do everything to the best of my abilities, even if it’s not something I particularly enjoy or it doesn’t turn out how I envisioned.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

My health. There are certain days when my physicality can’t keep up with my plans or dreams. It has been a lot of adjusting, learning to ask for help when needed and being kind to myself.

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I don’t necessarily want to be different; I want to be more. A quote from one of my favorite books, The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff, encapsulates what I mean: “Wisdom, Happiness, and Courage are not waiting somewhere out beyond sight at the end of a straight line; they’re part of a continuous cycle that begins right here. They’re not only the ending, but the beginning as well.” I want to keep improving and understanding who I am by constantly chasing betterment.

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

Communication and the blossoming of a community through it are very important to me. In many conversations with my neighbors, colleagues, or even strangers, we often discuss how difficult it is to make friends and find people to enjoy activities with in a world that discourages that. I want to help people step outside of their comfort zones and create circles within their communities where they can grow and connect with others.
