She is an amazing friend and dog mom, and one of the most generous people you will ever meet!” COURTNEY HEDRICK

What makes you feel proud?

Several things: doing meaningful work that makes a difference for the clients I serve, showing up authentically on the good days and the bad days, and overcoming limiting beliefs to grow as a person and achieve new things. Finally, seeing my friends be successful in their work and their lives.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

My husband has been a huge influence in my life. We are alike in so many ways, but he’s much more chill than I am overall. He’s a calming force to my tendency to overthink and be anxious about things. He’s great at gently challenging my limiting beliefs or negative self-talk, and I’m much better at truly downshifting and relaxing because of him.

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I want to worry less and live in the moment more. I want to stop saying “life will slow down next week/next month/next year” and instead enjoy the journey in whatever season of life I’m in. No matter what changes in a year, I want to look back and be proud of how I showed up for the people and the causes I care about.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

Infertility and miscarriage, but the bigger obstacles were not processing my grief related to that journey or talking about it much with other people. Years later, I’m starting to share my story more in hopes that it can help someone else walking a similar path.

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

How divided people are (or think they are). At the end of the day, there’s a lot of middle ground where we can meet on all sorts of issues. Let’s find that middle ground and work on solutions together instead of staying divided and only focusing on the problems.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

“Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.” That was actually pretty recent advice from Adam Grant’s book Hidden Potential, but it helped me realize some places where I was holding myself back because I was avoiding the feeling of being uncomfortable.
