What keeps you up at night?

My creative energy often leads to difficulty winding down in the evenings, and my tendency to engage in self-criticism often does not help – something I know many women relate to. Thankfully, over time, I have learned to extend myself more grace, have gained more confidence in myself and my actions, and have really learned to embody the cliché “don’t sweat the small stuff.”

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

The biggest influences in my life are the women who came before me and paved the way, many of whom have been recognized on this very list. They are also the women who work alongside me, giving advice when needed. They are my mentors and my biggest advocates.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Treat every person you encounter with kindness, respect, and dignity. Connections and relationships are often the driving force of opportunities that may not have otherwise been afforded to you, and every personal exchange matters.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

Several years ago, I lost my brother suddenly, and then a couple of months later, I lost my husband. My world shattered that year. However, it caused me to rediscover my passions and who I was as an individual. I started over and eventually made my way back home to Oklahoma. I’ve built a beautiful life with a career I love and friends that I adore. While my life took a course I did not initially plan for or expect, I learned the importance of appreciating the moment and the time that you have.

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

Access to safe and affordable housing. Throughout my time working in both the non-profit and private sectors, I have witnessed first-hand the need for increased and improved community resources that help the residents of Oklahoma meet this basic need. I look forward to continuing to work with organizations that share this common goal.
