What makes Shakera Wildly Capable?
Shakera is a humble leader. She is not the loudest voice in the room, but through her actions and ability to listen she makes a big impact in every room she walks into. Shakera embodies what it looks like to be a mother and care about the community of OKC at the same time. JORDAN HUMPHREY
What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?
The biggest obstacle in my life has been balancing the demands of my professional career as a therapist, my responsibilities as a parent, and nurturing my relationship with my husband. Finding harmony among these roles while striving to provide the best support for my clients, being present for my family, and maintaining a strong connection with my spouse has been challenging yet deeply rewarding. Overcoming this obstacle has required continuous prioritization, time management, and a deep commitment to personal growth and self-care. Additionally, overcoming personal fears has been a significant hurdle. Whether it’s fear of failure, fear of not being good enough, or fear of not meeting expectations, navigating these anxieties has required courage, perseverance, and a commitment to personal growth. It’s through confronting and overcoming these fears that I’ve gained resilience, confidence, and a deeper sense of fulfillment in both my professional and personal life.
One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?
I hope to have further honed my skills as a therapist, deepening my ability to support and guide my clients through their challenges with even greater insight and empathy. Personally, I aspire to be more present and engaged with my family, creating lasting memories and fostering stronger bonds. Professionally, I am eager to embark on pursuing a doctorate degree, aiming to expand my knowledge base and contribute more deeply to my field. This educational journey will open new avenues for growth and learning, allowing me to continuously enhance my expertise. Overall, I envision myself as more confident, accomplished, and fulfilled, both in my career and in my roles as a wife, mother, and friend.
What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?
Improving access to mental health services and support. Many individuals, families, and young people face barriers in accessing adequate mental health care due to stigma, affordability, or lack of available resources. By advocating for and working towards greater accessibility and awareness of mental health services, I hope to contribute to a community where everyone can receive the support they need to heal, thrive emotionally, and lead fulfilling lives.
