4 Fun Things
Some Hundred Magazine honorees gathered today for a special Storytelling Lunch all about Embracing the Detour. Danielle Baily, Madeline Burger and Tracy Zserdin each shared some hard situations they’ve faced with courage. We were encouraged to stay flexible, release control and remember disappointment doesn’t last forever. Perhaps my favorite piece of advice was from Danielle, who reminded us all to mind our support system in good times so we’re more prepared for hard times.
Learn more from four other women from Issue 04 who have embraced their own detours:
Stephanie Peña
“I’ve experienced significant pivots in my thirties and forties… Despite encountering failures time and again, I have found strength in my faith. God has never failed me, and together, we continue to navigate and embrace life’s journey.”
Sarah Jane Rodman
“We lost our third and fourth babies last year and our fifth this year… I’m proud of the work I’ve put into grieving. I’m proud of my body and where it is today compared to a year ago.”
Christina Beatty
“Leaving Chicago felt like a setback. But returning home helped me rebuild my identity and step into purpose as a mother and community leader.”
Cléo Nash
“Finding out I had a brain tumor last fall… even brain surgery! Losing vision in one eye was scary, but my bad jokes and positivity got me back on my feet in record time.”
