Angela Grunewald
What makes Angela Wildly Capable?
Angela has selflessly served others for decades, making a profound impact on public education. She pours into women and youth, even while working in one of the state’s largest school districts. She consistently shows up for others with dedication, strength, and heart. I am grateful for a mentor like Angela and admire her unwavering commitment to supporting young people and shaping the next generation of leaders.” – JACQUELINE SIT
What does your typical day look like?
Every day is different for me. Mondays start with staff meetings at North Church, where I work with young people across several different ministries. Sometimes this is one-on-ones with team members, staff chapel services, meetings with leaders and making sure everyone is prepared to serve. Sundays are the best because we host four experiences and serve students across every service.
What makes you feel proud?
I love helping others grow, both professionally and personally. Watching someone thrive and knowing I played a small part in that is deeply rewarding. I also love learning and supporting others in their growth.
Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?
I went into education because of my 6th grade teacher, Edythe Randall. She made school fun and special. My core values were largely influenced by my parents and the Christian examples they set for me.
What keeps you up at night?
I sleep well, so I’m usually not kept awake, but I do worry about friends who are going through hard times. I try to keep them in my prayers whenever they come to mind.
What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?
When my first husband passed away from cancer at the age of 48, I was lost. I had to find a new way to live. I had never imagined myself as a widow or as a single mother. I had to find new ways to move forward personally and professionally.
One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?
I want to always continue to learn and grow specifically in my walk with Christ. I hope that in a year, I have found more opportunities to love on the people at North Church and found ways to develop and grow my blog.
What advice do you wish you could give your younger self? How might it have changed your course?
When I look back, I wish I had not stressed so much about the little things. Five, ten years later, it doesn’t matter that the bedsheets were changed every week or the floor was swept every night after dinner.
