What makes Toni Wildly Capable?

Toni is a true leader in her industry. She has worked her way up to a Director of Nursing and continues to strive for excellence. She has achieved her master’s degree while working full time. She is a great mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and daughter. She is always there for her friends and family. She is a true woman of excellence and deserves recognition. NICOLE ANDERSON

What makes you feel proud?

Conquering life. I have been thrown some hardballs, and I feel like I weathered the storm and I am doing well. I lost a child in the late 90s and felt helpless with no purpose to live. I focused on my son and improving in my career. I currently hold a master’s degree in nursing and my current position is a director. I love helping others and this position helps me reach not only those in my presence but those in our community.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

My dad. He instilled in us that you have to work hard to get what you want out of life. He always helped anyone he could, whether they were family or not. He taught me no matter what life deals you, you are in control of the outcome and you can make the best of it.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

I feel like every obstacle sent my way, I overcame with perseverance. I completed my education and became a registered nurse even after losing my daughter. A year into obtaining my degree I went through a divorce from my high school sweetheart and daughter’s father. Losing my child and then my best friend caused me to fail a semester in school and I had to repeat. It was a tough road, but I refused to give up and struggled through. I never asked “who is going to let me” but instead asked “who is going to stop me?”

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I was recently promoted and hope that I become a better leader. Good leaders learn how to become better but a great leader takes the initiative to be better.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

You can do anything that you put your mind to. Don’t give up!
