While Madeline is highly accomplished in her career as an engineer, what is most impressive about her is the grace and wisdom she carries. Madeline is an amazing wife, mother, and friend, and she is truly a gift to all that know her. She uses her God-given gifts for the benefit of others and makes the world around her better. Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?
Christ has shaped my life in ways I cannot describe. In addition to being my Creator, He is my Father, Friend and Counselor. He has given me a worldview that influences how I see and interact with everything. He has also given me a beautiful family that influences me daily as well – my husband teaches me to be a bit more grounded; my son teaches me to be a bit more silly.
One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?
I hope to continue to grow as a wife and mom, friend, daughter, and sister. I hope I am able to make a difference in the lives of the people I care about. I’d like to be more outgoing, but I’ll settle for being more intentional with the people I love.
What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?
In 2020 I landed my dream job, and we started planning to move our family abroad for my new role. Then the pandemic hit. My husband and I were in a new country and we didn’t know anyone or speak the language. We had no real way of meeting people. It was incredibly isolating as I’m sure it was for many around the globe. Through it all, my husband and I learned to lean on each other and make the most of an otherwise depressing situation. Living abroad ended up being one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and though we are back in Oklahoma City now, I will always cherish that time overseas.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Attitude is everything. I’ve found that when I focus on the positive, even truly difficult things become so much easier. I think my faith in Christ and the hope He gives me makes that attitude shift possible because while I know that everything in this world is finite, God’s love for us is everlasting.
