What does your typical day look like?

A typical day for me is never truly “typical.” I lead a team of about 33 passionate and energetic employees who deliver outstanding before and after school programs, open recreation activities, sports programs, and a variety of special events. Every day brings something new, which keeps my work exciting and rewarding. In the evenings and on weekends, I also run my own balloon business, Events by Bloons, where I help make special occasions truly shine with creative and beautiful balloon designs.

What keeps you up at night?

I try not to let anything keep me up at night. I give my worries to God and trust that He is covering my children, my grandchildren, my staff, and all the people I love. My mother, brother, sister-in-law, and my beautiful Granny are my prayer warriors, and knowing they are praying alongside me gives me even more peace. Prayer provides me with comfort and strength, allowing me to rest knowing that everything is in His hands. Not to sound cliché, but my faith helps me release my worries so I can truly rest.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

One of the biggest obstacles in my life was starting my journey as a teenage mother. I carried the fear of becoming a statistic and often wondered if I was doing the right thing or if I would be able to make it through. But with perseverance, faith, and determination, I did. One of the proudest moments of my life was watching my daughter receive her doctorate degree, shortly after I had earned my own bachelor’s degree. In that moment, I knew we had turned our story into one of strength and success — not just surviving, but thriving.

What advice do you wish you could give your younger self? How might it have changed your course?

I would tell my younger self that everything you go through in life is part of God’s plan and a part of learning and growing. Your path is shaped by the lessons you experience, and those lessons help you become who you are meant to be. The advice I would give is to love yourself and embrace every part of who you are — something it took me years to fully understand. I don’t think I would change anything, because to have regrets would be to regret the blessings in my life, and I would never trade those blessings for anything.
