Dawn Bowles
What makes Dawn Wildly Capable?
Dawn is a visionary. Truly a phenomenal educator and leader!” SHARRI COLEMAN
What makes you feel proud?
I feel proud when I see my students and families excel and transform in ways that they never thought possible. I also feel proud when I can clearly see the work of my hands glorify God and edify His people. Lastly, I feel proud when I continue to effectively and efficiently carry on the legacy of my family through serving others in education and ministry.
What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?
The biggest obstacle in my life so far was managing an extremely challenging, debilitating, and life-threatening sickness for nearly 18 months. During the majority of this time I was also separated from my family because we live in different regions of the United States. I had never experienced any form of sickness on this level, and I had to pull from and rely on my faith in God and trust in His timing for my healing and recovery!
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path.” Proverbs 3:5-6
What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?
The single biggest problem in my community that I’d like to solve is being solved right now with the founding and opening of my school: Proud To Partner Leadership Academy. We are addressing the injustices and educational disparities of economically disadvantaged families in Oklahoma City and we are “Proud to Partner” with these families because they are our families. We are solving this historical problem by partnering with our community to provide a high quality school of leadership and excellence, designed to ignite, celebrate, and cultivate the academic, social, and emotional genius within our families in order to change the trajectory of their lives.
One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?
One year from today I hope I allow myself to have a little time for me. As a school founder and superintendent of a new charter high school that opened in August, I have been on autopilot for 12 months. I also hope I am able to be a little more patient with myself in my personal growth and development.
