Nova Fleske

What makes Nova Wildly Capable?

There is no one like Nova Fleske! This woman has transformed the commercial real estate landscape in Oklahoma City by being innovative and inclusive when others accept the status quo. She continues to impress and inspire me with every new venture! HANNAH SCHMITT

What makes you feel proud?

When a plan comes to fruition, either with my family or at work. When I do hard things that may have made me or others uncomfortable and it ends up being successful. When I stand up or stand out for others and that gives someone else the courage or permission to do the same. I am a really good encourager and connector, and I am extremely determined and honest. I think I encourage others to be vulnerable while making them feel like they can achieve anything. While I often feel like I can’t remember the day-to-day, I am good at remembering small details that would make people a good fit to help one another.

What keeps you up at night?

Usually something I said or didn’t say and fear that I messed up. Women’s place in this world is looking increasingly contentious against our advancement, equality, safety, and health. I genuinely want others to succeed and don’t mind using whatever influence I have to connect them. I can be arrestingly honest and I appreciate that honesty and authenticity in return. We practice “Radical Candor” both at work and at home, and it has been life changing.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

My husband, Eric Fleske. He is my biggest cheerleader and never criticizes me. His perspective and faith in me finally helped me understand the power I can yield if I love myself.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

Self-doubt, which causes me to do too much or get stuck in perfectionism and criticism. It’s not a healthy approach to work or life and one I am still working on.

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

Access to resources. I believe that a level playing field – where everyone has access to the people and resources needed to pursue their dream job, family, or education – creates a more vibrant and prosperous community. Expanding access to these opportunities benefits everyone, enriching the entire community rather than diminishing it.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

It’s okay to make a B. You can keep killing yourself to make an A that no one cares about or you can make a B and have a life
