Carrie Blumert
As a County Commissioner, Carrie knows she can only do so much. So she’s put her energy into not only her role, but creating a community of people more involved and engaged in government that will outlast the legacy she can leave on her own.
My days are never the same! But a semi typical work day for me starts at 6:30 am. I feed my pups Dottie and Taco, make coffee, check messages/emails, and try to read for fun for 15-20 minutes. I may have a County Commission meeting at the courthouse at 9 am that could last anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on what is on our agenda. After, I work from my downtown office returning phone calls, meeting with my staff on various projects, zoom calls, and EMAILS. I am pretty bad at keeping up with emails and usually have several hundred to read and respond to. Zoom calls may be related to ongoing issues at the county jail, a ReMerge board meeting, MAPS 4 Mental Health, a town hall with municipal leaders from my district, etc. My staff and I try to do a tour or site visit once a week in the afternoon of a program the county funds such homeless services or a senior day center. I also may do a site visit of one of our road or bridge projects in District 1. In the evenings, I usually have a community event to attend 1-2 nights per week. Rotary, neighborhood meetings, or fundraisers. It really just depends on the week!
