Meet Pam Nath

Pam is the owner of two Drybar locations in Oklahoma City. She is a long-time supporter of Hundred Magazine, providing professional blowouts to our honorees on their photoshoot day. We appreciate her support and are honored to share her personal story in our fifth issue.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

I was a single mother at a young age. I had to figure out how to support my two boys on my own with no college degree.

But my whole life I just get really persistent about what I want and I just go for it. I have no college degree, but all my jobs I have gotten just by never giving up. I know that even if I don't have the knowledge, I can find someone who does. I did not set out to be a business owner, but the moment I set foot in a Drybar in Dallas I knew I wanted to bring that to Oklahoma City. I was 53 at the time and corporate did not think OKC was a good place for a franchise. I persisted and finally, years later in August 2018, they said yes. I was 57.

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I really hope life has slowed down a little. I want to spend more time with my granddaughters and in the gym.

What keeps you up at night?

Making sure my team is taken care of. Running a small business can be stressful. We experience lean times, especially in the summer when business is slow. Covering payroll is my priority. I have 40 employees between two locations. We have experienced the hardship of shutting down for two months during the pandemic and even after that, many of the employees who started with me when we opened are still with me. I cherish them and remind them often they are what makes this whole thing work.

What advice do you wish you could give your younger self? How might it have changed your course?

It will all work out, so have faith.... and quit obsessing over your weight. Don’t miss walking down the beach with your children because you think you look fat in your swimsuit.
